Raven Symone Portrait by narutokunobessed Raven Symone Portrait by narutokunobessed
Raven took a photo of it in class and finally featured it on my page:

If you seen my journal, Raven from That So Raven and the Bill Cosby Show is in my class. She pick me to paint me, and I did the same.

I pretty much did this in two nights and really risked making this more colorful. I wasn't sure if I was allowed, but Raven, and my teacher, Henry Yan love it. My color pallet is based off of thinking orange blue, but wondering if red and pink would work, but figured it out using adobe Kuler. It does work out nicely.

I think Impasto is my favorite technique since you can mimic layering with acrylics, and you can get less Muddy Colors.

Inspiration is drawing from 16th Century art history class learning about Impasto and  also as well as Zimou tan, Web Academy on Oil painting,  learning about alla primaand researching many artists  on google and youtube, before attempting this result.

Might reupload this to fix the saturation on the dark area.

Raven is in your class!? OMG, I remember that show, like a childhood fav series (that I didn't understand but instead laughed for the fun of it :P). This is an awesome painting, just check your lighting and quality in future: well done! You really have been workin on the acrylic work hy

Its not acrylic. The underpainting or underdrawing is acrylics. The paint you moslty see now is oils.

Yep, she is. She is very nice to talk to. Im amazed though she says that no one sits with her, and so I decided to be nice, and be brave to talk to her. She is really nice and just like any other human being.

I did check the light a whole lot, but I was really trying to do some bleed into blue and not too much. I wanted some of the sky or something to really accent the orange. But it kind of looked silly and so I just left it dark.

Blue and orange are natural complamentaries: they battle for attention from the viewers eye when put on the same composition. I think that helps to make the subject matter pop out into the viewer (like black on white). Wait, you paint in acrylic first then oils on top??
