My Random Abstraction Finished by narutokunobessed My Random Abstraction Finished by narutokunobessed
No meaning really. I was super bored and depressed about my AP project. So, I took a DA user's suggestion and just started drawing random objects, even if it sucked. I started at the top left corner. And Then it was an all around page.

Kudos to people, who can recognize a few things on the page that are influence or what I like.

Tools used: Sakura Micron Pens

I loved that you just started drawing/doodling from one corner, went from there, and somehow still ended up with a picture that looked whole and complete like you planned it all this way before you began. :) Sounds like an excellent exercise too. I may give this a go one of these days, since I seem to be going through a period of art fear (or something like that anyway).

Thanks.

Maybe I should do more of these. Its not really hard to make. Just moving forward is all, and concentrating on filling up the page.

I don't normally do abstract art lol. But sounded a bit racist, or then again sound it was supportative.

I just realize I should be advertising that this is in my group BAUU's anthology Book, called BAAU Down.

Its not really singing to the flag. Its a concert type thing sponsered by a church. There is like a stage set up, where people sit, and the background is a flag. The people are a choir team. So hence, the singing flag. Its pretty traditional and alot of people come. They do like patroitic songs, songs about christianity, songs that are entertainment like Flintstones, jetson, men in black, etc. For the entertainment part, the choir does not sing, but they play the music the background and its pretty much a montage of dancing.

The only song I really sang was down to the river to pray. I love that song.

YOU'VE GOT SUCH AN ARTISTIC AND TALENTED MIND!!

and i feel like having that creative mind is much more important than having any types of skills at drawing because seriously any one could become good at drawing with practice but you can't just PRACTICE to have an amazing mind!!

lol sorry i'm done with my ranting now.... XD

i'm just SO jealous of these abstract type of pictures, most of my friends who are into art always do this type of stuff and make it look SO EASY but RAAAHAHHRRHGHGFDKJSALFJD my mind just doesn't work this way!!

i tend to be very precise with my drawings, like i usually have a clear picture of what i want in my head and then i go from there. i can't just randomly put my random blahs all over the page and have it somehow look amazing like this!!! lol which is EXACTLY WHY I'M SO JEALOUS OF YOU

Oh wow. Thank you for the nice comment.
This was really done with no intention of a finish look, but just finishing. Its a good exercise to do.

Just doodle random things on one page, and fill up the space. Don't think of the doodle as a right or wrong thing, (although do the line art a bit neatly and fast). And to loose that temptation, use a inking pen.

I got this idea somewhere on the forums long time ago. If you read the comments, It was when I was really depressed that I had to change my own idea for the teacher, because she felt it was not AP expectations. I think she told me to doodle new ideas. Nothing came out. So I just did this for that week instead of painting. It did keep me busy, but this didn't resolve my problem though lol. Just after that, the teacher did give up and say to try and do it.

So yea, just be loose, and don't be afraid on this type of thing. Its only a sketch. Sometimes you got to be loose, and sometimes you got to be strict. This is the time to loosen up and just draw on the page.

wut? how can wat your drawing not be ap expectations??? isn't art all about self expression and suff???

and thanks so much for the advice lol, maybe i just need more practice letting my mind be loose like that

I understand that art is are and self expression, but you know, at some point, there is a rightness and a wrongness to certain parts of art. I wouldn't say too logical, because then we forget to be loose and be more artstic, but yea, in a way there is somewhat a logic approach to art, otherwise why would critiques exist. Right now I can't think of exact other reasons why critiques would exist.

Film, music, this visual art form, all will have critiques.

Well just take a look at AP. Ap shows its a college credited course, so your expected to do college work. In AP art, your supposed to create 24 pieces of work within the dead line, but thankfully we only did our 12 concentration pieces for our class. But in concentration pieces you have to have a theme of some sort, and I did have theme but it was kind of flakey. It was my original characters, but she wanted a stronger theme. I said it was reflection of my feelings, but then again, its not really my feelings all the time. The my feelings tying to the really dread of each piece was not accurate. I don't know if I really feel as dreadful as the pieces show. So if you want to compare it to an essay, my thesis was not strong enough.

So, by the time I finished, I finally had another set theme in mind which is that it just plainly tells a story. In the end, I got a 3 passing.

My AP portfolio in high school:

This was in high school senior year.

And your welcome. Just to remind you that this was drawn in my sketchbook. In sketchbooks, your not going to create the greatest drawings ever. Its your idea book of what you want to do, a place to doodle on, etc. Ive seen even people pasting items like photo references and stuff like that. One place I find inspiring is Matt's tutorials on youtube, where he displays sketchbooks. Alot of them are anime artist too.

o i think i get what your talking about, like elements and principles?? what other kinds of stuff did you have to focus on in that class besides theme??

lol and yay, fellow-ap-student-power-GO! lol, too bad my school didn't offer ap for art, the closest thing we had to that was "adv art" and you'd have to take all the prerequisites just to get in, i was lucky they let me skip the intro class. And even then, that class was only like 14 people and super laid back, most of the kids in their weren't even into art and just took it because it was one of the "easier A classes". It was so laid back, me and my friends would take turns bringing doughnuts and breakfast or making cupcakes for the whole class just for the heck of it.

There were pretty much only like 7 who were into art, including me. So you can imagine how curious I am about how your whole art class experience was like...

Well its kind of a workshop class. You come in and paint your idea. Thats pretty much the jist of AP art.

I wouldn't say the same when I was at my high school. You wouldn't expect that anyway, since alot of people think art is just for fun and stuff. Even in my current college, which is a non art school, they think its fun. But they miss out on the part that says work in art work. Its still takes work, and for some, its just rewarding rather then actually fun. I guess it could be fun, but still again, its still work to come up with a good solid idea. If you look at my paintings, those took alot of time to make. I spent alot of time on those. Even then, I still got only a 3 on my AP thing. 3 is passing, and 5 is considered perfect.

Though in AP art, you would expect it advance too. There were only two other students in that class, and the previous year, it was only one AP student. The next year, a friend of mine was in it, and dropped out. Doing 12 really good pieces is stressful sometimes, to get it done within the year. When I came back to their music production, there were plenty of AP students. I spent nights trying to finish, because I could not get it done in class, and I was really really slow. The environment I had, my two other art buddies, was really fun though. I had fun times with them and we were good together, despite the workload of 12 pieces at that time.

Now in college, I guess my speed has gotten fast as I can finish a piece in a week, but then again, its because I use more references now.
